Lots of news and firsts at Municipal Waste Congress 2016

The recent Municipal Waste Congress was about knowledge sharing as well as firsts. Such as VConsyst Routes: route optimization for collection trucks.

Innovation

More than 500 participants exchanged views on the circular economy and innovation in waste collection. But also about Diftar, PMD and waste communication nationally and locally. All this was impactfully introduced by Isabelle Diks, alderman in Leeuwarden and portfolio holder of the Waste Committee Environment, Energy & Mobility VNG. Coen de Ruiter, director of the Apenheul Foundation, also gave meaning to a day full of inspiration. In this lively ambiance, we introduced, among other things, our totally new software platform VConsyst Dynamics WMS and the new laundry truck, pontifically parked in front of DeFabrique for the occasion.

VConsyst Routes: round of optimization

At our booth, we were able to update our industry peers on developments in our company. And we knew it! There was a storm at the introduction of VConsyst Routes, the new route optimization functionality. Every collection truck fleet, with one or a hundred vehicles, can make the rounds surprisingly more efficiently. Our playful action, trade in your surplus collection vehicles now, pointed that out too.

Collaboration

VConsyst Routes is the outcome of close cooperation with AMCS, leading specialist in software for transport planning and optimization. Martijn Schimmer, Regional Manager at AMCS: “VConsyst Routes is an integrated solution for route and fleet information. Ready-made, so a very small step to very big advantages. Such as as much as 30% to 40% cost savings and a fill rate that can go from 50% to 80%. You don’t empty containers unnecessarily early or too late, which also saves complaints about full containers. It is also safer, because there are fewer large trucks coming into residential areas.” The technical connection was quickly arranged by the VConsyst and AMCS specialists. Schimmer: “The cooperation is pleasant and our ideas match well. As a result, our joint goal quickly came into view: to create a solution without high development costs that waste collectors can start using immediately.”
