In Memoriam: Harry van Dalfsen
We are shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of our founder, former CEO and inspiration Harry van Dalfsen.
While staying at his home in Portugal, he was diagnosed with inflammation in the hip last week. On Oct. 18, he was admitted to the hospital and very soon he was moved to the ICU. He underwent kidney dialysis and blood transfusions throughout the day. Very likely, an aggressive bacterium was the cause, subsequently causing blood poisoning and organ failure. Unfortunately, all help in the ICU was to no avail and he died that same evening.
As founder of the family business Venture Group, he himself stood at the cradle of the companies Vadain, VConsyst, VD&P and V-Access.
About 50 years ago, he started selling carpet from his car. With his extraordinary entrepreneurship, he built a family of companies under the current name Venture Group that operates worldwide. Vadain and VConsyst are among the top international companies in their industries.
In addition to his entrepreneurship, he was also very active in various chairman and board positions during his lifetime. He also meant a lot locally in politics and at various (sports) associations. In the textile industry, he was chairman of Modint and President of International Apparel Federation (IAF) for many years. For this he was appointed Officer in the Order of Orange Nassau.
His social involvement expressed itself most as founder and driving force of the Sampark Foundation. The Sampark Foundation provides education to children and young adults in India.
Although Harry van Dalfsen focused more on his retirement in recent years, he was still very involved in the companies in the background.
The members of the Executive Board of the Venture Group, the boards and management of the various companies, the board of the Sampark Foundation and the many employees and associates, with whom Harry was very involved, will miss him dearly.
At the same time, his entrepreneurship and passion inspires us all the more to continue the companies within the Venture Group and to continue to have an impact in all the markets in which we are active as a “family of companies.”
We wish his family much strength and strength and we sympathize with them during this difficult time.
