Substantial cost reduction in Hague

Through smart maintenance

Although Amsterdam is the official capital, the Dutch government is based in The Hague. Some 4,600 VConsyst underground waste containers can be found in this city, one of the largest in our country. VConsyst also provides complete maintenance, cleaning and inspection in The Hague. The system was custom developed together with the client in The Hague. And that is bearing fruit.

Waste containers ten years trouble-free

The top quality of VConsyst waste containers is a smart combination with the sophisticated maintenance, because that mix reduces costs considerably. Haagse Milieu Services, the local waste collector, is happy with it. Thanks to their 10-year lifespan, these 4,600 containers in The Hague will also be able to operate faultlessly for a long time to come. Despite intensive use, there are hardly any problems. Arnoud Baron, project manager of Haagse Milieu Services: “The costs incurred now come from the collection trucks with their large crane, which lifts the full steel waste container from its underground concrete pit.” A job that requires skills and concentration from the crane drivers, employed by the Hague collector.

Customized automated management system

Passing traffic and impatient passersby can distract or irritate crane drivers. When you have to empty large numbers of containers in busy city traffic, haste and carelessness can cause things to break down. No matter how well the driver masters his craft -and himself. Arnoud Baron: “The things that go wrong can be charted efficiently. VConsyst’s automated management system is precisely tailored to monitor and manage our collection processes. For example, we know exactly which district has been emptied, which routes have been driven and what damages or malfunctions there are. We also receive the reason for a breakdown for each district, for example vandalism or incorrect emptying.”

Big data, big results

Together with VConsyst, the valuable big data from the management system is analyzed and discussed. By the way, all information is immediately available via smartphone, tablet and desktop. Arnoud Baron: “With the conclusions we will soon draw from big data, we will be able to take measures to adjust our drivers, and reduce breakdowns and damages to a minimum. In addition, we can fine-tune our training and guidance. Ultimately, we will see the result of our joint efforts reflected in significantly lower costs and increasing grip on management.”
