A circular economy is more than recycling

In early 2020, Wilco van der Zeeuw, business development manager, has joined the production division’s sales team. From his position as development manager at Bammens, Wilco has been a cartographer and responsible for the sales of indoor litter bins for several years.

This he continues as the custodian of the relationship with SUEZ, our sales partner of indoor litter bins. VConsyst has already had a close partnership with this since 2016. “In this role, it is important to be a partner where we think along with SUEZ and serve the market as well as possible. This means, know our customer and know the market. In the indoor waste collection market, the importance of a circularly produced bin is growing,” Wilco said. But what exactly do you need to achieve a fully circularly produced bin. Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving provides a good picture of this, which you can find in the illustration below.

To be fully circular, you go through all the steps of the Environmental Planning Agency. Therefore, our trash can is designed to be produced with as little material as possible (Rethink and reduce). Most of the used material can be reused to make new litter bins. Also used bins can be refurbished, so repair and maintenance is not necessary. Wilco: “Great initiatives arise by entering into discussions with SUEZ and the end user. Examples are product developments such as a wooden lid with FSC quality mark for indoor bins, which is currently being developed by Jan Kuipers Nunspeet. But also the development of a plastic lid has started in cooperation with Quality Circular Polymers. QCP processes the plastic packaging waste collected by SUEZ into renewed raw material. So with this, we will reuse the plastic waste collected by our own manufactured bins to produce new bins. Now that’s truly circular!”
